Women Rate Sweatshirts Among Most Important Clothing Items

One thousand women were asked to name their top five comfy clothing items and when the results were tallied, the humble sweatshirt was found to be among the top five items. Along with sweat pants, t-shirts, little black dress and lingerie.

Once upon a time, the sweatshirt was just something most women wore to well, sweat in. Meaning do yard work, work out and other activities that require functional clothing. However, the sweatshirt has come a long way since then.

Now, nearly ever major designer has a sweatshirt with their name emblazoned upon it, Hollywood stars are photographed during their "off" time in sweatshirts and jeans and with the creation of college themed sweatshirts, band sweatshirts and other speciality printed items; sweatshirts have readily become and accepted part of casual dress attire and are no longer relegated to the back of the closet for work out or yard duty.

Sweatshirts also make great gifts. It's okay if you aren't exactly sure if your gift recipient is a size 14 or size 16. Sweatshirts fit loosely and there's more "give" in the fit so being a size off is forgivable in fit. If you want to be really sneaky, take a peek in her closet and secretly note what her clothing size is.

From simple beginnings, the sweatshirt for women has come a long way from the necessity clothing to do physical work or work out in to an essential item in every women's wardrobe.
